Austin’s Band of Heathens to join us in-studio for live music and conversation Wednesday at 1:30

We’re psyched to have the Austin-based Band of Heathens joining us live on Wednesday (7/21) at 1:30. Formed in Austin, TX, the Band of Heathens came together as they performed independently as singer-songwriters doing regular sets at Momo’s in Austin. Colin Brooks, Ed Juri and Gordy Quist began sitting in with each other, eventually backed by the solid rhythm section of John Chipman and Seth Whitney, and the band was organically conceived. Calling themselves “The Good Time Supper Club”, a misprint in a local paper billed them as “The Band of Heathens”, hence the name change.

In 2008, their self-titled album came in #8 on the Americana Music Association’s top 100 albums, and in 2009, they were nominated for a “new emerging artist award”.

Band of Heathens perform at the Abbey Theatre Wednesday night.
