Durango Bluegrass Meltdown weekend is upon us

We love this old video clip of The Outta Hand String Band in front of Animas Trading from the 2005 Meltdown. Just a reminder of the fun to be had around town this weekend.

Paula Poundstone’s laugh riot at the Community Concert Hall
February 15, 2012, 10:11 pm
Filed under: KSUT event picks, KSUT happenings, KSUT news

Paula Poundstone had over six hundred friends of KSUT holding their sides and complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughing during her debut Durango performance last Saturday night.  Check out the KSUT flickr page for photos from the show and the pre-show VIP reception at the Rochester Hotel.  Thank you to all who attended this benefit for KSUT and thanks to our sponsors, The Rochester Hotel, Ska Brewing Company, Wildcat Canyon Liquors and Zia Taqueria.

Paula Poundstone – still some tix left, but going quick, 247-7657. Join us for some laughs in support of KSUT. Check out this great feature in the Durango Herald.

The Durango Herald’s Arts & Entertainment Editor Ted Holteen spoke with Paula Poundstone about her upcoming Durango performance on Saturday night (2/11). Read it here.

Patty Larkin, Eric Bibb and Guy Davis join us live in-studio on Thursday

Three great musicians will join us for three separate in-studio performances on Thursday afternoon.

We’ll kick things off with Patty Larkin shortly after 1:00 PM. Patty celebrated 25 years in the recording industry in 2010 with her CD “25” featuring love songs reworked and newly recorded with a host of musician friends. She’s performing Thursday and Friday night at the Millwood Junction in Mancos. A singer-songwriter and amazing guitarist, Patty remains a core artist of the KSUT Music Blend and we look forward to a great session.

Eric Bibb will join us shortly after 2:00 PM for some traditional live blues. Bibb was last here in 2010 on his “Booker’s Guitar” tour, paying homage to the Delta Blues of Booker White. This time, he’ll be performing at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College along with fellow bluesman Guy Davis on their “Blues Pilgrims” tour.

Guy Davis will be joining us as well at approximately 2:30 for his first in-studio performance on KSUT. Blues guitarist, banjo player and actor, Davis is about to release “The Adventures of Fishy Waters: In Bed with the Blues”, an audio play that combines Davis’ original songs with those of Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy and others. We look forward to some blues and storytelling to top off our afternoon of live guests.

Paula Poundstone tickets are selling quickly. Do you have yours? Join us for a pre-show reception at the Rochester.

KSUT presents stand-up comedian Paula Poundstone in live performance, Saturday, February 11, at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, 7:30 pm.  The event, a benefit for KSUT, will be Poundstone’s first Durango appearance. A limited number of VIP tickets, including a pre-show drink and appetizer reception with Poundstone at the Rochester Hotel and premium seating are now available here.

The Boston Globe said, “Poundstone improvises with a crowd like a Jazz musician…swinging in unexpected directions without a plan, without a net.”  Paula is so quick and unassuming that audience members at her live shows often leave complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughter and debating whether the random people she talked to were “plants”. Join us – it’s going to be a blast!

Sponsored by Ska Brewing Company, Wildcat Canyon Liquors, Zia Taqueria and The Rochester Hotel.
